According to figures released by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), the sales figures for Ford cars were up by a massive 38.2 per cent in July 2013. This is far ahead of the car sales market in the UK as a whole.
Other figures released by the SMMT for July included the following:
• The Ford Focus and the Ford Fiesta cars were at the top of the sales charts for the month and for the year so far
• The Ford Fiesta is leading retail sales by a ratio of two to one on its nearest rival
• Ford achieved a total vehicle share of 16.5 per cent in July, which is its best for four years.
Commenting on the exceptional figures, the chairman and managing director of Ford in the UK, Mark Ovenden said:
“Car sales are continuing their positive trend in the UK and Ford sales are ahead of overall market growth with private customers driving up our share of more profitable retail sales. Ford’s best-ever model range is at the heart of this success, which was underlined in July with every nameplate, from Ka through to Galaxy, increasing sales compared with July 2012.”
